Teaching Receptive Skills

 Welcome to the last blog of the period! The last class was about teaching receptive skills, lets talk about what it mean.

I remember always my first time that I studied english, and you will know all the topic in english since you were a teachers many years ago, you share as music like an example of what kind of verbs is about, but other teachers use the tape recorder to put some audios that the english book have. This is very interesting how to develop their comprenhension trhough listening, it can be podcast, videos, music, movies series, etc.

If you are reading, you must know how to be able to improve the comprenhension and their vocabulary, there are other skills of how to communicate. Its necesary to know some instructions to have a knowledge of each student, having the impact to learn with them and showing new words that the dont understand.

In all these approaches there some materials that you will need for listen the audios, podcast, videos, music and other more things that you will put on a tape recorder, computer or the phone to have a listening and reading, it will be easy to you if you practice it everytime that is your oportunity to do it and dont forget listening again and again.

And thats all for today, it was nice knowing about that, I recomend always to get prepare some steps to teach the others, you will understand that it will be the best to you and you will not have problems, just a little difficulties because is a little bit stressful but at the end you will be happy because you got a good job and have a pleasure to practice with all the students in the case that you are talking about that.

Teaching Speaking

Cheers to everyone, welcome to my blog again

 

Right now i'll defend a little bit about the speaking, these can be one of my favorites topics, why? because when you are learning new languages you feel that you have the wish to teach that language to others, also make a communication with it. So you feel agree if you teach to other to have a better comunication and get an excellent pronunciation since to be an actual or the same day showing some word of the vocabulary on a text book and write them on a notebook or a bond paper.

 

You ask how you can do for teach the speaking skills and trying to entertaining all the students at the indicated time or in a free hours to play? I would suggest to assign them one topic to talk about, also when the teachers ask all the students which can be the next topic and that will be that the next time its about give some instructions to discuss all the aims that the master explained in every class and you can feel grateful if you feel that you do it great how it belongs.

 

The good way for students knowing about each other and making friends with many of them it helps to make a develpment the speaking skill and pronunciation too, just in case that you can learn it at home to because you will have it in your mind and you will make the things better and all will be agree with you. For example when we choose your topic, lets talk about "Fruits"so we play about chosing which its our favorite fruit, but now I prefer other topic. Its about "Music", the students feel relaxed when the teachers share them  music because its a good entertaiment and we feel excited knowing about the sweety that the master have with us, but it will depend what kind of music.

 

When we are receiving english clases of verbs and adverbs, we make some sentences and English Teachers share us like example some romantic music in English because it has some sentenced about words that are wrote with a past simple and present perfect, if some of those song are known by some students before they feel happy because they like them and they get a lot of fun relaxing about those kinds of music including others that love all kinds of music, but in the case of the master that only teach children, they only recomended to them sharing a childish music, at the differences of the teenagers and adults they can listen all kinds of music becuase we are older than children. 

 

If i touched that topic its about it has something to see about the teachers when they speak and teach, so a master that teach music will only talk about music.

 

Dont forget to still practicing the the pronuciation, vocabulary and grammar. 2 weeks ago we listen a little bit about "Jazz chants", they wre created by the NYU professor Carolyn Graham. This topic was about something that the name says, we must show the expressions to show how to help the students.

Hello back to my blog, let's talk a little about another topic that we saw very relevant.

 

It is about teaching writing, your skills are: writing, speaking, listening and reading. These skills are very interesting and we know how to teach all these skills properly and can serve as entertainment for students, it is like a challenge for those who have not yet become familiar with our alphabet and because they are people from abroad, that is, from other countries. We have the ability to give guidance to all those skills, especially tutoring.

 

Apart from the fact that we know that writing is based on tracing letters and writing words, we know that there are other steps that are the following:

                         

 

All these elements must be practiced by a student who wants to reach an advanced level of English so that he can have the facility to give enrichment and greater learning to his writing.

 

In these classes that we saw this week we continue discussing the exercises we use to teach students to read and write, we can also focus on the process and the product, for example when we talk about a song and a movie, there we show many gestures of how to express a little action,  Especially in music, communication in gestures such as sign language was observed more often, those are other ideas we have to see if you are interested in doing written analysis of that, especially speeches and other works.

 

And another thing that Mr. Orlando put us to do was about writing an analysis of what have been the best moments of our lives and that was what was most enjoyed, we analyzed it and exchanged in reading those of the other companions, that taught us how to enrich ourselves and show different pre-writing techniques of how to organize the ideas to exhibit a composition that can most attract our attention and I see attractive, so I liked working like that too and it is what I would leave in practice for any circumstance that I have to be able to give that analysis verbally.

Although we did not have permission to read the writing of our classmates we had the opportunity to continue writing in the story other details that one imagined what the story that begins to be written was about, it helps us to feel in good humor and in good spirits when we defend all together the activities in the classroom in a more comfortable way.

 

Another thing we defended this week was about teaching grammar and vocabulary, we had to discuss them inductively and deductively in order to teach them. Another point of view that we can give in this regard is that the student feels easier to be taught grammar inductively since they will have more opportunity and time to review all the necessary time until the learning achieves it to the maximum and give it all the corresponding practice, unlike teaching deductive grammar is easier because the practice time is less and only has the time in reviewing what the teacher explains in person and it is more about being able to learn about reading.

 

The rest was about entry when it is restricted and authentic. It is restricted when we are teaching through a learning book and all the material that was explained to us in class, unlike the input is authentic when it is not designed to teach it, but there are possibilities to adapt it, such as when we listen to music in English, that helps the ear to be able to have better pronunciation and give it a way to express something and that is a great help to how to practice the Language in an easier way without having a barrier.

 

We must not miss the opportunity to learn. Let's not forget to always practice all the verbs and pronouns, that's what would help the most to be able to say a complementary sentence. As you well know, everyone connects to the world of teaching in order to help others who do not know it yet and opportunities never fail and we can guide others with several teaching and learning methods since we are not different in enriching ourselves and we can have techniques to be excellent students and workers.

 These are just examples seen in the class.

Body Language, coordination and improvisation

Hello again, today we will defend a little about body language, coordination and improvisation.

 

As you know very well I have researched and known that body language and coordination are essential for teachers, they are a great example with ease being able to follow because thanks to them we have ease in effective communication and commitment, on the other hand we also saw another subtopic, is about improvisation, this topic speaks about the development of the teacher and his communication with students, but all these sessions that we have seen right now was about that we knew at the end that improvision is vital for them.

We also worked in groups and did a set of different activities to challenge body language, coordination and improvisation. We made an over-trying to make our colleagues laugh, in my case I managed to make a several laugh, but Joshua whom I had in front of me got a great laugh. I grimaced with my eyes closed and it worked that I looked funny and well I said that it was going to be funny. Another activity that we did was about looking directly at a partner and try to get serious, it was an activity that I managed to do as well. Another detail was how we also admired our colleagues as they look and that was my favorite part of the class, all was unforgettable.

We also imitate certain movie characters and we did a communication with gestures with a music too, all this improvisation we did was suggested by Mr. Orlando, we worked to imitate movie actor and characters, we made gestures, contacts to signs when we were participating with a song, here are some examples from the videos that I recorded below:

 

Finally, we understood that improvisation is critical for all teachers because it helps them stay flexible, helping their students to be creative, and also helping them to provide meaningful and impactful learning experiences for all students. Body language and coordination are key factors in improving communication, engagement, and the learning environment in the classroom.

Voice Projection

Greetings to all, welcome to a new entry

I come to analyze a little of what we have seen these last occasions; It is about the projection on the voices, it helps us to be able to understand and listen more easily, we can build our confidence as a speaker and have an authority that helps us maintain attention in any dialogue that is established, it would not be necessary to be able to shout or raise your voice so that it is heard louder because it is not so simple for that.

We carried out different activities to be able to practice our voice projection, we started with the IMITATION,  we had to fake our voices imitating a man, a woman and a child, it is easy for me to imitate a man but also some women because I have a soprano voice, not all women speak with a high voice, my voice was changed at 16 and a half years old,  if it is half easy for me to also imitate the tone of a woman but it is rare, the easy thing is that the tone of my voice is soprano but it is easier for me to imitate the voice of a child, but the easiest thing always to a man, as for example Gotye has a soprano voice and I have that phonetics and almost always it comes out like that when I speak for that,  but sometimes you hear me like Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and Peter Hernandez (Bruno Mars) although they hear the sound through the microphone.

 

Then we saw the theme about RESONANCE where they made us sing and pronounce the vowel sounds in a good and long way. It catches my attention to sing and that idea is very nice because I am very good at imitating voices in some artists, I sang only what was necessary, although I wanted to sing one of my favorite songs, but those had not been assigned to me in class and the teacher watched us all as we rehearsed.

 

Then we saw a little bit of BREATHING and in this activity we were put into conversation as we moved backwards/forwards; and we did exercises and it was similar when we went to the gym and talked at the time we exercised.

 

And in the end in the JOINT we used a pencil in our mouth that served us to articulate sounds, it was a bit stressful because I felt that my jaw was going to hurt, but we enjoyed it.

 

In summary, our friend Nidia showed us a presentation about commercials, as we know very well she works on FM 102.1 radio and is an announcer, she has an excellent voice, her work is great and I admire her a lot, we were all happy to hear her defend her work, she is a great exemplary person, a great friend,  He advised us how to moderate the tone of voice and we also had practices with the following intentions: neutral / natural, sales / commercial in institutional.

For us it is always convenient to understand how to use voice projection correctly because we have to have experiences in a case that we must talk a lot through a presentation and we would not forget how to sound natural / clear and deliver the message pleasantly, that's why I have to always remember to work on my voice, for that is to practice exercises and thus be able to learn to speak like a true professional.

 

In the end today we worked to imitate actors in a movie and we made gestures, contact to signs when we were participating with a song, here are some examples of the videoclips that i recorded below:
